This bespoke wall installation was designed exclusively for Qai Qai Restaurant, Kolkata, with the intent to blend cultural symbolism with modern design sensibilities.
The installation features nine terracotta hand sculptures, each representing a unique hand mudra (gesture). Arranged in three horizontal rows, the artwork narrates a symbolic cycle of exchange and connection:

Top Row (The Givers): Three hands symbolizing generosity, blessing, and offering.
Middle Row (The Facilitators): Three hands representing balance, guidance, and flow.
Bottom Row (The Receiver): Three hands embodying gratitude, acceptance, and receptivity.

Encased in circular illuminated frames, the terracotta hands emerge from subtle lighting that highlights the sculptural depth while creating a serene, contemplative mood. The placement beneath the staircase adds both intimacy and intrigue, making it a conversation piece for guests as they enter the dining space.
The concept aligns with Qai Qai’s ethos of hospitality, warmth, and cultural richness—transforming traditional mudras into a contemporary narrative about human connection, giving, and receiving.
