The installation features three separate framed panels that function like chapters of a book, gradually shifting from bold, dark shapes to an airy, light composition. The left panel anchors the wall with a commanding, deep navy structure. The center panel opens up the space with a monochromatic, chalk-white design, while the right panel finishes the sequence with a complex puzzle of soft slate blue blocks.
What sets this piece apart from traditional art sets is the intense play on overlapping depth. Each color block is physically raised, stepping out at different levels so they cast crisp, clean shadows onto the rough, sandy backgrounds behind them.
Medium: Mixed media installation featuring layered architectural fiberboard shapes coated in dense sandstone plaster aggregates, mounted onto heavy-textured canvas backboards within thin matte black metal frames.
Technique: Dimensional graphic layering; flat, abstract structural plates are hand-cut into sweeping architectural curves and sharp geometric lines, stacked on top of one another to create multiple tiers of physical depth that project forward from the frame.
Finish: A heavily textured, non-reflective matte sand finish; showcasing a color story of deep indigo navy, crisp plaster white, and muted slate blue, with coarse mineral grains that diffuse ambient light.
